Are you an employee of the wider public service – including boards and agencies? If so, you have obligations under the Ethics Acts, which vary according to your position.

See the list of public service bodies whose employees must adhere to the Acts.

What are my obligations?

You must disclose any interests that could influence you (or has done) when carrying out your role. You must also adhere to rules on gifts, contracts and post-employment, and you may need to provide evidence of tax compliance.

While the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform does not have a specific code of conduct for the wider public service, employees must adhere to the Ethics Acts and to the department’s code of practice for the governance of State bodies.

Some department sectors or agencies have their own codes of conduct.

How can I seek advice?
