The code sets out standards of behaviour to guide you, as a member of Dáil Éireann, in carrying out your official duties.

Who does the code apply to?

The code applies to members of Dáil Éireann who are not office holders. There is a separate Code of Conduct for Office Holders.

What does the code cover?

Under the code, you must ensure your conduct does not bring the integrity of your office or the Dáil into disrepute.

The code sets out how you must behave in office – in areas such as managing conflicts of interest, accepting gifts and benefits, adhering to the law, co-operating with legal bodies, the proper use of public resources, and the use of information.

Where can I get advice on my obligations under the code?

Contact the Committee on Members’ Interests of Dáil Éireann for advice on the Code of Conduct for Members of Dáil Eireann.
