Guidelines

The Standards Commission publishes guidelines under the Ethics in Public Office Acts, 1995 and 2001 for office holders and prescribed public servants to ensure compliance by them with the requirements of the legislation.

The Standards Commission is also required to publish guidelines under the Electoral Acts.Guidelines have been published for elections;

• for Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas, representatives in the European parliament and political parties in relation to their ongoing requirements with regard to the acceptance and disclosure of donations; and
• in relation to the expenditure of State funding by qualified political parties.

The Standards Commission also publishes explanatory notes for certain categories of persons covered by the Electoral Acts.
